Monthly Prayer Focus : Somalia
South County Food Box Ministry
The final Saturday each month is our food box ministry aimed at providing food to the many impoverished families here in South Orange County. Our focus community is the area around Gates Elementary School but our desire is to provide assistance to as many who are in need as we can possibly help.
INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS
Lifewater International. One of our goals is to help provide safe drinking water to communities that do not have access to this basic need for life. Soma has partnered with Lifewater International with the goal of building one new well each year in areas where the gospel is not welcome and where water is not available. This partnership fulfills our desire to bring the message of the love of Jesus to people primarily in the 10-40 window.
Our first well was funded in 2010 and provided a brand new well in a village in Central Asia. In addition to this new well, our partnership overseas provided basic hygiene training and employment for several local women who will train and instruct the village on healthy practices that have proven to reduce disease in this region. Due to the high risk to the security of Christians working in this area, we are unable to disclose the location of this project.

Atfaluna Society for the Deaf. This group brings education and hope to this often neglected segment of the population. The Christians leading this organization are fulfilling the commands of Jesus to “love the least of the brothers of mine (Matt 25)”. Even more difficult is to live the ways of Jesus in this area of the world controlled by the Radical Islamic Group, Hamas.
